The overall population of our school is under 40% white, with many students from Somalia, Mexico and other places all over the world.
My Project
My students need nine quality ukuleles to have access to a class set of instruments. Ukuleles are a widely accessible instrument for students, whose smaller hands can have difficulty with guitars. As a beginner's instrument, ukulele provides great opportunities for learning a stringed instrument, and using the instrument to create chords and melodies as a team.
Our Pacific Islander students could use these resources to share their expertise and community's culture with all of our kids.
They can show their pride and get other kids excited about music in a very accessible way.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
