My Students

The future innovators of music can be found at my school. Even though my students are young Pk-2nd graders, I have high expectations for them that they always surpass. Picture 1st and 2nd graders putting on a musical production where they run the lights, microphones, and rehearse independently. Those are the kind of kids I serve.

We have composers, performers, songwriters, dancers, producers, and so much more!

My students are passionate about music-making and music class. Every day my students come in with an abundance of energy, excited and ready to sing, play, and learn. They look forward to joining other great St. Louis artists. And while we may not always have the best, my students always give their best, and therefore, deserve the best.

My Project

My 1st and 2nd graders listen and learn music by the St. Louis native, Chuck Berry, every year. They often wonder why they don't get a chance to play guitar in music. Even small body guitars are too large for some of my students. However, ukuleles will allow my small students to experience concepts like chords, and strumming, before moving on to guitars. This set of ukuleles will help us complete our class set so students won't need to share during class, helping us minimize the spread of germs in this dangerous time.We'll also have cases to keep the instruments safe when we are not playing!

My students will gain the opportunity to study the multitudes of music and cultures that utilize the ukulele as a staple instrument, as well as explore how they want to use the sound in their unique music-making.
