This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach grades PK3-5th! My students love music! They look forward to coming to my class and often don’t want to leave.
My students absolutely love to dance, and make music, and it’s hard to get them to stop!
It's such a joy to see how big their smiles are and how excited they get when we are dancing and playing music games. Of course, right now we have to get extra creative with our activities to make sure our students stay safe.
I'm always blown away by the amount of joy that parents expressed towards how much fun their children were having in my music class. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this fantastic year will bring!
My Project
My classes range from 14-26 students. We are still trying to keep kids as safe as we can. Music teachers are trying to grow their class sets of instruments so there is less sharing during our music classes! I have seven ukuleles from a previous project, and I’m trying to purchase seven more!
Students need to PLAY!
Ukuleles are one of the easiest instruments to learn so we can play along with their favorite songs. There are a few instruments that are off-limits for elementary schools right now. I want my students to have fun and make music together as much as we can.
