This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a suburb of Los Angeles with a wonderful group of students. We are diverse group with many different abilities and needs. I love being their teacher and look forward to coming to school every day (even on Zoom) to see and teach them.
These kids have been amazing to start off the year online due to the pandemic.
My students finished last year online, and they are starting this year online. They are missing many wonderful opportunities that you can only do in the classroom.
Even though we are only seeing each other through Zoom, I can see that they are a wonderful group of kids and they deserve to have an excellent year.
My Project
I teach at a STEAM School. We are working to grow our arts program and having a ukulele band would help greatly. We currently have no set strong music program. Ukuleles and drums would engage a variety of students with music.
Ukuleles are a great instrument to start learning music.
By having a ukulele band, my school will be able to implement various learning standards with math, language arts, and science while learning a fun new instrument.
We will also be adding in drums to teach about beat, rhythm, and the basics of reading music.
