Help me give my students Mitchell Mu40 Soprano Ukulele's to help them better understand performance skills and stay healthy with these durable instruments that can be cleaned.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am new to a title one school this year that has lovely students in every grade from K-5th. With 650+ students our materials are spread thin and we provide materials for the students since we are title one. My students have free meals and school supplies provided due to the high poverty area I work in, and we are lacking some instruments for them to use. I want to make sure each of my fifth graders gets a chance to play instruments before the year is over but due to the added pressures of this school year, I need your help.
My Project
These Ukuleles will help my students better learn performance skills and engagement strategies. Listening and singing a song are both very important but nothing beats playing the music to accompany your singing at the same time as you sing. These Ukuleles will help my students become real, true musicians that can play without the assistance of technology. Instruments like this help students feel successful and have clear, physical goals they can work towards in their day to day. For some of my students, a small success is the difference between a great week, and a horrible one.
