My Project
This year, 4th and 5th grade students at my school are learning to play the ukulele. The ukuleles I share with the other music teacher at my school have been displayed in my room all year and every day I would hear the question "When do we get to play those?" Since starting ukulele, my students are the most focused and excited to be in music they've been all year. Right now, every student learning the ukulele has to share one instrument with a partner during their class time. Because of that, they're only getting about half the available time to actually play and learn.
More ukuleles would support every student in reaching their musical potential.
My students use the ukulele to form and practice important collaboration and problem-solving skills. They help connect music to other subjects like social studies and math. They also provide a great way support our music curriculum in the upper grades. Please help give my students the opportunity to expand their learning on these incredible instruments!
