Help me give my students phonics manipulatives like the magnetic board with tiles and dry-erase boards so they can better learn to read and write. A fundamental skill in their young lives!
These materials will be used in conjunction with the UFLI foundations curriculum to help my students learn the basic phonics of reading. I am an ESE inclusion teacher and work with students with disabilities that struggle with learning, they excel when given an opportunity with hands-on learning.
Giving students manipulatives and multiple avenues to learn, explore and try new skills help with committing the skill to memory.
Being able to listen to themselves read, move the sounds that go into words, and see how phonics are the building blocks to everything will help give them confidence.
My students love to learn and work hard. My students love to listen to stories and ask to read but struggle with word recognition. Due to this struggle, they have low confidence and feel defeated. By having these new materials, I will be able to help build their confidence and give them the ability to work on their own while practicing these skills. I want to expand what we have to work with to help them become amazing, confident readers.
