Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are excited and energetic typical 11-year-olds, except they are not. My students come from very diverse and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Many of my students are bilingual; they speak English as a second language.
In our class, we utilize collaboration and peer learning/teaching as tools to build the skills of all of the students.
We are a part of a math department that is proud to implement and focus on collaborative classroom structures to increase engagement and learning. The work we do extends beyond developing math skills into building real-world skills such as teamwork, building relationships, and utilizing resources. In addition, there is a strong focus on building confidence and developing a growth mindset.
My Project
You have probably already heard teachers talking about the endless set of tabs we all have open at once. Zoom, attendance (which is updated the entire class), Nearpod, Google Classroom, Notes, Google Drive, and so much more. We are constantly shuffling and resizing so that we can see what we need.
A second screen allows for a higher level of organization that will allow me to be more focused on my students and the lesson.
A second screen will allow me to keep an eye on my students and their work while I also take attendance, or update something in another tab.
