This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It's been a very hard transition from traditional teaching to distance learning, however, my 7th students are enthusiastic to learn math as much as they can through online learning and as best as they could through these times.
My students attend a Title I public school, with a student population of predominately Hispanic students, with 100% free and reduced price lunch participants.
Most come from a low income home with limited resources, which results in lack of interest in school. I believe they are wonderful students who are creative, passionate, open-minded, and hungry for the curiosity to learn despite the obstacles. They are in the seventh grade and are average 12 years old students. Some are very fortunate to have all necessary electronic devices, and can view the lesson when given without any trouble, some are not and have technical difficulties which requires them to log on and off continuously on their laptop. Though they are now facing a new way of learning and have a hard time participating, they are thrilled to begin a great school year.
My Project
With the sudden shift to distance learning, it hasn’t been easy when it comes to teaching virtually, yet students have been eagerly showing up everyday making the best of it. Despite their effort, it makes it a bit difficult when you are trying to give examples and you can’t see whether they are Following along. Having a secondary monitor will make it easier to see students while on zoom meetings and still be able to give them examples of the lesson. The HDMI cable will make the connection to the computer much easier so students can learn through these tough times!
