My Project
Direct instruction is one of the most effective methods for tutoring elementary students. Through modeling and discussing math problems, students gain a deeper, conceptual understanding of mathematical concepts. Repetitive practice is vital in helping them apply the skills they are learning.
However, a significant challenge in my classroom is the lack of a display-sized thinking and exemplary work.
While students remain attentive and engaged as I read aloud and solve problems on anchor chart paper, having access to a large whiteboard and supporting materials would greatly enhance their learning experience. By displaying model examples of math strategies for independent or guided practice on a whiteboard, students would be able to more effectively anchor their thinking and follow along with the instruction.
