This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The art supplies I am given are going to help students be able to enhance their fine motor skills using art as well as promote a child’s inner creative side. Art is a great way for the students to learn to connect with one another and work together to learn in a fun way. Studies have shown that young students participating in art can help students improve: literacy skills, comprehension skills as well as giving the students a great sense of responsibility.
One lesson plan that comes to mind that I would like to do with my students, is to use the kinetic sand as a way for the students to practice their weekly phonograms and spelling words.
The students would practice writing their phonograms in the sand, this is going to help some students who may performing a little slower than their classmates by providing a fun and clever way for them to practice their phonograms. These lesson plans will help students learn in groups once again, which is something that they were not able to due for a long time due to Covid.
Markers can be used to help students practice hand eye coordination and give them the opportunity to use a different type of writing utensil. In the classroom students are used to using pencils most of the time so I feel giving the students an opportunity to use markers and other materials listed will be beneficial for my students. As for the table, I plan to use it for me to be able to move freely around the classroom during my small learning tutoring groups. The table will also be used for a separate workspace for any students who may need some one on one time.
