Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom consists of twenty-three energetic, enthusiastic children who have a passion for learning and putting their knowledge to use. They really enjoy working together in small groups as well as with partners. My students love hands on activities, projects, and anything messy. One project they really enjoyed was when they monitored different plants to see which roots would absorb water the quickest.
My students have an extreme love for science, especially plants and animals!
It is very evident that science is their favorite part of the day. They work hard and are very engaged when completing projects, caring for our classroom plants, and taking care of our turtle habitat.
My Project
My students recently received two baby eastern painted turtles. We are in need of these supplies in order to enhance the lives of our new classroom turtles.
These items will help teach my students how to properly care for living animals by ensuring their habitat has everything they need to live.
They will be responsible for the care of our turtles by making sure they are healthy and happy. My students will fill the Floating Turtle Feeder on Fridays before leaving school to ensure they have enough to eat while we are gone. They will also need aquatic river pebbles, moss balls, and a floating aquarium log to make the turtles feel like they are in their natural environment.
