This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The past 2 years have not been easy on our students. It was challenging for them to learn online through the pandemic. The academic area that was affected the most was their writing, since everything was done online. My 3rd graders had not been in a classroom since they were in first grade. We are working hard making up for lost time as we focus on writing and preparing for the end of the year writing assessments. However, sometimes they need a little extra encouragement.
Giving the students the gift of authoring and illustrating their own book would inspire them to create a story they can be proud of and show off to friends and family.
With your generous support not only will students be able to write their own book but with the added supplies they will be able to illustrate them too. As they are working hard creating their books we have included healthy snacks as an added treat to fuel their brains. Additionally the TPT gift card will enable me to purchase resources and materials directly related to the writing process. I will also be able to provide multiple forms of writing practice and skill development beyond writing stories to writing informational texts, opinion writing, and poetry which are all standards they need to master before going to 4th grade.
Whether or not you donate to our project, thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I have a wonderful group of scholars and want to see them excel. They would be absolutely thrilled to author and illustrate their own book. Who knows, it may inspire future career aspirations.
