My students need four heat guns along with attachments.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Maas's classroom raised $451

My Students
My students are becoming eco-warriors. My students have been creating dialogue about environmental issues through their art.
This year it has been my mission to create environmental awareness amongst my students.
Plastic bag weavings, to poison dart frog sculptures, and endangered species masks using recycled paper are only some of the projects we have done so far. Students have collected over 2000 juice pouches to recycle since the beginning of the school year. They are eager to learn and I am eager to provide them with more opportunities to learn and create art with and environmental statement.
My students come from multiple school districts within ten miles of the charter school where I teach. This creates a vibrant school population across an urban setting. The school is Title I and we serve students that typically come from low income situations.
My Project
This project will allow students to create art for the environment and further their environmental impact by raising funds to donate to a foundation. Students will collect and re-purpose plastic bottles from the cafeteria and home into flowers. My classes will use these heat guns to melt and mold the bottles into flowers. Students will create beautiful bouquets from plastic. Typically flowers are sold at our school for Valentines Day. This is a perfect opportunity for students to sell their art and further their impact by donating the money to an environmental cause.
This is a project that will keep on giving in years to come since the heat guns are a nonconsumable resource.
Students will create a statement through their art and create art for a cause.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
