My students need graphic novels to continue growing their love for reading and to convey the message that literature comes in many various forms. Additionally, my students need these books to continue growing their reading levels.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember your excitement when the Sunday newspaper came and you were able to read the "funnies"? Children love comics and are engaged while reading them. I'd like to engage my classroom with a selection of different graphic novels! Please help us fill our shelves with this wonderful genre.
My students attend a Title I school located in the South Bronx in which 30% live in shelters.
Despite the obstacles they face on a daily basis, they are always eager to learn and never give up hope. As their teacher, I buy the majority of the materials they need to help them achieve their academic goals out of my own pocket because I want to provide them with the opportunities to learn and experience things they never imagined. I want to instill the joy that learning can bring regardless of the challenges within their own life.
My Project
My students need different collections of graphic novels to continue to increase their independent reading levels. Each book in the collections I have selected are engaging and will take my students on many different journeys. Perhaps more remarkably, this will be the first collection of several different graphic novels in our classroom's library. My goal is to build different bins of genre for students to show my students that literature is every where and that an author does not have to follow the same format as others. They will be able to increase their reading skills and levels. More books in my classroom will provide the opportunities for students to borrow books to read at home. Increasing the number of books within our classroom will give my students the chance to feel successful at reading independently when they discover books they love and adore. My intent is to have my students identify the types of genres they love to help them improve their reading skills but in order for this to happen we need more types of genres in our classroom.
Your donations will help my students have a well-stocked graphic novel collection bin within our classroom library.
You will help my students to realize that books/stories don't always have to follow the same format.
My students need a greater variety of text selections. I believe these graphic novel books could be just what my students need. Please support my classroom. Every dollar counts!
