Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a special educator in Boston Public Schools, I work with some of our most resilient and determined learners—students who are working incredibly hard to become confident, joyful readers. Many of them face significant challenges when it comes to reading, and it's my mission to create a learning environment that supports their growth, reflects their identities, and fuels their motivation.

To do this, I’m requesting several key materials that will help transform our small-group reading space:

The group table will provide a dedicated, spacious, and comfortable place for me to meet with small groups daily. This table is large enough to fit materials and allow every student to engage fully in instruction.

The Achieve It! Fourth Grade Genre Collection: Poetry and Rhyme Variety Pack (Set of 20) will help my students build fluency and enjoy the rhythm and creativity of language—especially important for those who need alternative ways to connect with text.

The Achieve It! Multipublisher Guided Reading Level K Variety Pack (Grade 2, Set of 16 Titles) offers just-right, high-interest texts that meet students where they are developmentally. These accessible books will allow struggling readers to experience success and build confidence.

In addition, I’m requesting culturally and linguistically representative books and book bags so students can read at home, and a file cabinet with folders to help me stay organized and track their progress. With your support, I can create a classroom that supports both academic growth and a deep love for reading.

Thank you for helping us build a space where every child feels capable, valued, and ready to thrive.
