it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are bright, curious learners from an inner-city community, but many are struggling readers who haven’t had access to books that truly engage them. When I asked them what types of stories they enjoy, their faces lit up, and they eagerly shared their preferences. Unfortunately, most of the books they’ve had access to are hand-me-downs or plain black-and-white copies that don’t capture their attention.
With the high-quality boxed book sets I’m requesting, I know they will be excited to dive into reading.
These books will offer my students engaging, colorful, and relevant stories that align with their interests, increasing the time they spend reading. My goal is to use these resources to not only boost their literacy skills but also help them discover a lifelong love for reading.
What makes my students special is their resilience and potential. Despite the challenges they face, they are eager to learn. Giving them access to these books will help them build confidence in their reading, grow academically, and broaden their world.
