My Project

My 3rd grade students are bright, curious, and full of potential. They come to school every day eager to learn, even when they face challenges outside of the classroom. Our school is a Title 1 school, and many of my students come from underprivileged backgrounds. For some, access to books and rich literature experiences only happen here in our classroom.

This project will provide three full classroom sets of high-quality, engaging novels: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, and Wonder.

These books will allow us to dive into imaginative worlds, explore powerful themes like kindness, resilience, and identity, and help my students fall in love with reading.

Right now, we don’t have enough copies for every student to hold a book in their hands. Reading as a class loses its magic when students are unable to follow along with their own copy. These books will give every child the opportunity to fully participate, build fluency, and develop comprehension skills through shared reading, discussions, and activities.
