This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Spanish novels I am requesting will help immerse my students in authentic and engaging literature, boosting their reading comprehension and language fluency. Access to diverse Spanish texts will encourage independent reading and foster a love for literature in a second language. These books will also provide cultural perspectives that broaden their worldviews and spark meaningful classroom discussions.
My primary goal is to cultivate a classroom library filled with engaging Spanish novels that meet the varied reading levels and interests of my 5th-grade students.
Many of these books are also part of our district's Batalla de Libros event. In addition, by having these novels readily available, I aim to improve their Spanish reading proficiency, enhance vocabulary development, and increase their overall confidence as bilingual readers. I also hope to inspire lifelong learning through exposure to a wide variety of stories that celebrate diverse voices and cultures.
My 5th-grade students are bright, curious, and resilient learners. Many of them come from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, and they thrive in a classroom that celebrates multilingualism. They are eager to expand their reading skills and are motivated by stories that reflect their experiences and challenge their imaginations. Their enthusiasm for learning is contagious, and with the right resources, I know they will become confident, thoughtful readers who appreciate the beauty of language in all its forms.
