Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm very fortunate to teach a diverse group of students who have a large range of learning styles. I teach about 130 middle school students in 3 different subjects: Math, Science, and Social Studies. My classes range from 22 to 28 students in each period. Some of my students come from different countries sol English is their second language.
Because my students’ learning styles are so diverse, I need to provide them with the best opportunities and tools to help them succeed.
My students would benefit from technology that allows them to touch, study, and take home products that are as intricate as the real-world equivalent. My goal for them is to become successful 21st century lifelong learners.
My Project
Hands-on learning is an integral part of my classroom. I have students that are visual, some that are tactile, and some that love to move things around to learn. Using 3D technology in the classroom will be an excellent tool to enable my students to create, design, and apply scientific and mathematical concepts during our class lessons. My students will be able to create models, tools, and fun gadgets so they can solve mathematical and scientific problems.
By getting this 3D printer, learning will be more relevant for my students, my students will be able to solve real-world problems with their creations, and it will meet their learning needs.
This will create a whole new learning experience for my students because they will have to solve, plan, design, and create. The best part of it is that they will see their finished products come to life. Additionally, they can create manipulatives to aid them with their mathematical and scientific problems. It will be absolutely incredible and fulfilling to see my students become 21st-century learners using the 3D printer while having their learning needs being met.
