My Project
My students need some headphones so they can effectively tackle assignments and lessons in class. As an ELA/literature class, there are often times when we watch videos related to writing content or the story we are reading, but when you have a class of 25 or 30 kids all trying to watch a video out loud, it can get pretty crazy and loud. In addition to watching videos, I also encourage my students to listen to audiobooks. Having various versions of books at our disposal is not something that all generations have had, and some students are simply auditory learners.
Having headphones allows students access to some incredible online resources, and we would be remiss if we weren't doing all in our power to make sure our students could unlock those resources through something as simple as headphones.
Some students have their own headphones, but some don’t, and middle schoolers forget their headphones all the time…. or break them. You know, the norm in a middle school. As we navigate the rollercoaster of the twenty-first century and prepare our students for the real world, utilizing technology plays an important role in our classrooms. We often find ourselves in a whirlwind of assignments demanding headphone participation and students who don’t have headphones. Plus, I also have students who utilize resources to read directions and assignments to them.
Having headphones in the classroom that I could hand out when a student forgot their headphones, or broke the ones they did bring, would be an amazing way to make our days just a little easier…. and a little less chaotic.
