Help me give my students a listening center to support and strengthen their language acquisition and reading development. Having a listening center will help my students access academic vocabulary and improve their comprehension skills.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher. I teach second grade at a Title I public school in The Bronx, New York. My school is near and dear to me because it is my alma mater. It warms my heart to serve and give back to my community. I teach students on the autism spectrum. The ASD program is tailored to providing specialized academic and social-emotional learning for all students. My students are amazingly unique, talented and special.
My Project
Listening is a vital communication skillset for children to have especially at the elementary level. Second grade is a very significant shift in students’ reading development. In second grade, students become more experienced as a reader. Students are reading more complex and rigorous texts. Obtaining a listening center in my classroom will benefit all of my students in numerous of ways. It will enhance and strengthen their language acquisition, reading fluency and reading comprehension. My students need a set of three headphones, classic children books and CDs that will allow my students to enjoy reading and hone in on enhancing their listening skills.
