Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I started a club on my campus called ManUP! The purpose of our club is to teach young, at-risk students the importance of self-improvement, empowerment, responsibility, and social awareness. Many of these students are actually in my mild-moderate special education class for grades 6-8.
Many, if not all, of our students come from low socio-economic backgrounds.
Our entire school receives free or reduced-price lunch so we are definitely in need of outside resources to obtain the boxing gloves and training equipment that will help us achieve our yearly goals that fall under our creed: "We, the young men of ManUP! strive to become positive, successful students who serve as role models to those who look up to us. Through hard work, we strive to improve in the following areas: Self-Improvement, Empowerment, Responsibility, and Social Awareness."
