Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I believe that my students in the city deserve the same quality education and technology experiences that their counterparts in the suburbs just a few miles away receive. This interactive whiteboard converter will help bring technology to my students that they have never experienced before.
The students at the public school where I teach are enthusiastic learners from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
We are a kindergarten through eighth grade elementary school. My students face academic and artistic challenges with vigor and excitement, and I am privileged to be their visual arts teacher.
My students are 97% low-income and are primarily Hispanic-American. Many are 1st or 2nd generation, with minimal understanding of cultures other than their own. I believe that having 21st century technology in the classroom will help bridge the gap that many urban children face.
My Project
This interactive whiteboard hardware will take my ordinary dry erase whiteboard and turn it into a 21st century interactive learning tool. Interactive whiteboards give students a chance to virtually arrange objects, digitally draw, and focus in order to visually understand the concepts taught in class.
My art program is taught from a small mobile classroom, in an urban setting.
The students dive right in to whatever art experiences present to them. They do not see or feel the limitations that I sometimes do. I am excited by the thought of being able to share the world of digital arts and technology with the students, and introduce them to a whole new world of creative technology that will prepare them for their 21st century dreams and goals.
