My Students

As a teacher in a low-income school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with engaging and meaningful learning experiences.

The future of the world is in my classroom today.

Our Philadelphia Charter School serves the Frankford neighborhood in North Philadelphia. When the school opened its doors, the student population was 86 percent minority and 68 percent economically disadvantaged. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in an engaging and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

My students need 29 Maxell Headphones so they can focus on their work with minimal distractions. I am fortunate enough to work in a school with wonderful technology resources. For my students who come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, this provides them the opportunity to have access to so many enriching programs. Having headphones for my students will allow them to fully experience all the technology has to offer, and give them the chance to work independently within the classroom. Being able to sit in a comfy part of the room, and focus on their own work on their tablets without the noise of their classmates as a distraction would make a huge difference to my students.
