Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is comprised of 23 creative and imaginative first graders who are eager to learn about the world around them! All 23 children speak a foreign language at home and have to put in a little extra focus to learn English at school. Most of my students receive free and reduced lunch here at school and have limited resources available to them at home due to living a high poverty lifestyle. These barriers do not hold them back though!

Each child walks into the classroom each morning with a high desire to learn.

I use this opportunity to my advantage and make sure that my school day is packed with memorable lessons and activities for each child. There just is no time to waste!

My Project

Our students are fortunate to be 1:1 with Chromebook technology and the children are constantly practicing their 21st Century skills. Some of the work that we do requires the children to listen to an activity and this can become difficult to do without headphones to use.

If each child had their own set of headphones, students would be able to engage in their specific learning activities without the distraction of those around them.

The engagement in lessons would reach a new level and students would feel more successful .

The headphones will also come in handy when my students take their standardized tests on the computer. Our tests require them to listen to directions and choose answers accordingly. Headphones will provide the focus and individual practice they need.
