Tubano Drums for All!

Help me give my students tubano drums! Tubano drums are rich, warm-sounding drums similar to congas and African kpanlogo.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic student musicians at a Title 1 school in the Bronx! They are actively engaged in performing and making music together. They are acquiring the skills necessary to be members of a musical community, and many of them pursue music outside of the general music classroom as well.

Together, they are becoming musically educated and will have the skills needed to analyze, perform, create, and respond to music.

However, because we are without a classroom, we are limited on some of our materials that we desperately need. Thank you for your help!

My Project

The tubanos will add a warmth to our sound in general music and class. Additionally, the tubano drums will provide exposure to a new instrument. Our current drums are only hand drums which are not always easy to imagine and create with because the timbre is high and by now, expected.

They will help us with our rhythm activities, arrangements, and movement activities!

These particular drums are also long-lasting, so all 650 student can use, as well as more to come! They are lightweight, so even the students can assist in moving them and learning new set ups in the classroom!
