On March 13, 2020 I watched as my students excitedly built leprechaun traps alongside their 3rd grade big buddies completely oblivious to what was happening around them. My classroom was an explosion of cardboard boxes, toilet paper tubes, and endless energy. Hours later my classroom was quiet and empty filled with uncertainty and sadness. I said goodbye to my students that day not knowing it would be our last day together.
My kids are bright, energetic, and full of imagination and fun.
I say "my kids" because that's exactly what they are. They are my kids for 180 days. I care about them, I nurture their growth and I worry about their futures. Unfortunately due to Covid 19 I now need to find new ways to best support my young learners.
My Project
Due to the corona virus my entire family has been working from home. With only one desktop computer I am now forced to create lessons and distance learning activities later in the evenings after my husband is “off from work”.
My work laptop is an older MacBook that constantly has issues making it difficult to work on.
I draft emails and communicate with parents during the day mostly using my cell phone. Having my own laptop would give me the flexibility to work normal office hours.
Additionally, I would be able to give my students greater learning opportunities via Zoom and Seesaw. I want to stay connected with my students and families during this challenging time, it is so imperative to keep those connections alive. Having a new laptop would not only benefit my family but also the families that I work with and support.
