My students need 5 straight trumpet mutes for their instruments to play more expressively and produce the sounds needed to fully appreciate the composition we are working on.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The 3 'antique' mutes we currently have in our inventory are dented and unusable. We are trying to play more advanced repertoire requiring the use of trumpet mutes.
My students are eager to learn more advanced pieces and do not have the right equipment to play the music as the composer intended.
Most of my band students are borrowing school instruments and cannot afford to purchase these much needed trumpet mutes.
My Project
With these trumpet mutes the students will be able to play more expressively and produce the sounds needed to fully appreciate the composition we are working on. My band students will experience the different timbres created with these mutes as we learn repertoire requiring the straight mutes.
Straight trumpet mutes are standard pieces of equipment for middle school bands and should be in our inventory.
During this school year my students have advanced tremendously and are now ready for music requiring trumpet mutes.
