Help me give my students the tools they need every day, including sharp pencils (and grips) to write stories, ideas, and poems; pastels to spark their creativity, glue to support creations, and large whiteboards for modeling writing work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Poetry, real-life heroes, the joy of reading, wolves, animal adaptations, and ancient cultures...these are a few of the topics that my students and I will investigate this year. I am excited to guide them through these explorations and participate in their growth as readers, writers, artists, storytellers, and individuals.
Our goal as a bilingual community is to foster our students' development linguistically, academically, culturally, socially, and emotionally.
Our students come from mostly immigrant families from a diverse range of backgrounds. My families are hardworking and dedicated to their children's success. We seek to create a learning environment that is supportive, collaborative, and engaging, where students can develop their individual voices and creativity and have the confidence to share their thoughts and ideas. We want to ensure our students have the tools and skills to succeed in our ever-changing world.
As a teacher, I constantly grow and learn with my students, as together we explore new worlds, new skills, and new relationships. This wondrous process can occur anywhere and anytime, but with the necessary supports, it can be more fluid and constant, laying the foundations for lifelong engagement in learning and discovery.
My Project
Pencils are the basis of our work. Whether it is for writing, doodling, or planning a masterpiece, a good pencil saves the day. The more my students write, the more pencils disappear. It is, for our class, a certain measure of productivity, but it also means that fresh, sharpened pencils become a rare commodity. With this new stock of pencils, we will again have plenty!
I also want my students to push their boundaries and experiment with some new (somewhat messier) materials, like oil pastels and collage work (glue!).
Exposing students to new media allows them to discover new ideas in a hands-on way, which will also help to develop and grow their critical thinking.
Our new magnetic whiteboards will facilitate modeling of writing as well as collaborative writing where we work together to find our individual voices and the voice of our community.
