Truly Amazing Life Cycles

My students need an Insects Specimen Set, Growlab Mind Activities, and Flip Charts to better help them better understand the life cycles.

My Students

Inspiration should always start in a classroom. My biggest hope is that at least one of my students will be truly inspired by something they have done in my classroom.

I teach 18 beautiful, fantastic, students who are so eager to learn.

They love hands on work and are able to move mountains when they are able to get out of their seats and touch, paint, draw, or make. They attend a low income, Title 1 school. Approximately 80% of them receive free or reduced lunch. My school truly cares about its students and tries its hardest to provide them with enriching materials to help them grow and learn.

My Project

I am requesting materials, in which not only will the children be able to read about the life cycle of several different insects and plants, but they will also be able to witness the changes first hand. Can you imagine the delight on my students' faces when they see a beautiful butterfly come out of an ugly gray sac? How excited they will be to watch crickets grow and make homes. How excited they will be to watch ants move through their farm and create their own little community. I am also requesting some "Life Cycle" file folder games, so that the students will be able to enhance their learning with a fun educational experience.

This project is so important to me because my students asked for it.

When I gave them ideas about what we could do, each and every student started bouncing up and down when I talked about live insects and how we would watch them grow. I think we sometimes take for granted that not every child has witnessed the physical changes of something, and my hope is that my students will never forget the pure enjoyment they had when seeing such a miracle of life right in their classroom.
