Do you remember that special story the teacher read to you in 3rd grade? You know... the one that made you cry and then you wrote your best story based on it. Well, that is what you are giving the children at Johnson Elementary School. These children are located in a low economic region. There aren't many funds for materials to enhance these children's education.
The children at Johnson Elementary School are excited about good literature. I have purchased several titles with my personal funds. I would love to give these children and future classes the opportunity to read quality literature, by contemporary authors.
With the 22 different books that you fund, these children will get exposure to a variety of genres. I will provide writing activities and learning exercises to incorporate the skills that are being taught with the literature.
PLEASE...without your help these students' literary experiences would be pale in comparison to the experiences they will have with the use of these books.
