This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a specialized public high school in New York City renowned for excelling at math and the sciences. They are also passionate about learning French and developing their ability to communicate with people from around the world, thus becoming well-rounded individuals and future leaders.

Voracious readers, my students breeze through French language books faster than I can obtain them.

The more they read, the more their vocabulary and communication skills improve, transforming them into truly proficient French speakers.

My Project

We all know that we are most likely to read a book cover-to-cover if it is about a topic that we find interesting. And, since approximately 70% of our vocabulary is acquired through reading, I want to create a culture of pleasure reading in my classroom to help my students build their fluency in French.

By having a variety of books to choose from, my students will be able to get lost in a good story with a theme that is interesting to them.

Could there be a more pleasurable way to learn a language?

The books I would like for my classroom have themes/genres such as: science fiction, mystery, sports, biography, humor, history, and more.
