This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Everyday we start the day with good morning 1-309 welcome to a new day...the students reply with good morning! Since we are an ICT classroom, we have general ed and special ed students, this allows for a great level of abilities. We try and use that everyday.
My students are from a inner city area in the south Bronx, 38% of our students come from shelters.
My class is a mix of general ed and special ed students. The school is a mixture of languages and backgrounds which makes it quite diverse population. We have a PreK- 5 building with about 750 students. The students benefit most from hands on experience. We are trying to increase the amount of students interested in science and technology. That is why we have started raising trout, for the trout in the classroom organization.
My Project
The students will use the equipment that I am requesting to establish the trout in the classroom tank (filers, bio chips, thermometers, media bags etc.) These materials will make sure that the water is filtered correctly so our trout will have the best habitat to grow in. The aerators will allow us to travel to Westchester New York to release the trout, with minimal fish passing due to low oxygen intake.
My project will make a difference to the community, because it will allow my students the chance to learn about life cycles, water quality, habitats, environmental pollution and a hands on experience to witness the process which otherwise they would not be able too.
