My Students

I am returning to the classroom after a 9 year hiatus. I want to create an engaging, project based, and personalized learning environment for my students. By the end of the school year, I want my students to not only learn world geography but 21st century skills.

My students are your typical 14 year old children.

They enter high school fearful of what is around the next corner and end the year understanding how to maneuver through high school. They love the ability to use technology as a tool for learning and creating. We are fortunate enough to have 1:1 computing with Chromebooks and students are allowed to use their cell phones for educational purposes in the classroom. The school is made up of over 2000 students from diverse ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds.

My Project

The students will be able to use the tripods with their cell phones to create videos in conjunction with my See the World Through Their Eyes project that was recently funded. Students will be able to utilize the tripods throughout the year on various assignments but specifically I would like to use the tripods for a beginning of the year Who and Where am I? project. This project will introduce us to each other for the beginning of the school year. The tripods will allow us to record more precise video for the class. Students will learn about their classroom community through this specific project.

The projects I can create with my requests will help transform the classroom to a hands-on engaging atmosphere with the ability to publish quality video for the students to build a community in their classroom and connect it with the world.
