My Project
My students are curious and analytical. They eagerly think critically about difficult concepts, especially when presented with hands-on, real world data.
These tree slices will allow my students to see historical climate data, by observing growth rings.
They will be able to see not only how old the tree was, but compare/contrast low and high growth years. This help them to correlate seasonal and multi-year trends in climate, including temperature and water availability. The tree data can also be cross-referenced to ice core and atmospheric carbon dioxide data, showing students the collaborative and cumulative nature of science.
