This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students show exceptional dedication by consistently asking insightful questions and eagerly exploring diverse learning methods. I frequently invest my own funds to purchase small tokens for them, though these expenses can accumulate.
I plan to introduce a reward system featuring small, student-selected trinkets that engage and support their educational journey.
Incorporating a prize box that includes student preferred items will complement verbal praise and reward a commitment to learning. After accumulating stickers on a reinforcement chart over several weeks, students will earn a prize. This approach aligns with effective classroom reward systems that utilize positive reinforcement to boost motivation and engagement.
Many of the prizes consist of sensory items that offer effective distractions that aim to enhance attention and focus. We are also asking for items like Barbie dolls, LEGO sets, toy trains, and Play-Doh. Incorporating controlled sensory input from tools like fidgets student gain insight on ways to manage excess energy and improve concentration. These resource support self-regulation skills. Over time, students can better manage sensory sensitivities, leading to improved focus and engagement across settings.
