This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first-year teacher at a low income/high poverty school. I teach 2nd grade. As heartbreaking as it is, most of my students are faced with many challenges in and out of the classroom.
All of my students deserve to be healthy and happy.
Though I cannot control what happens outside of the classroom, I can certainly control what happens inside. My students come to class feeling loved, supported, and engaged. I have a wide range of students in my classroom. Some students are highly intelligent and some have developmental delays. This does not stop me from providing them the education that they need.
I love all of my students and they each bring joy to my life as a teacher.
I look forward to building a positive classroom during my first year of teaching.
My Project
My students earn treasure box prizes for positive behavior throughout the day. In my treasure box, I have a lot of various little things that the students love such as notepads, erasers, pencils, slime, bubbles, etc. Students also earn Eagle Bucks throughout the school day for following the school rules of the 3 B's: Be safe, be responsible and be respectful.
However, earning treasure box gives students a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Students work harder, focus more, and are more inclined to follow the class and school rules in order to earn their chance to get into the classroom treasure box. Please help fill my classroom treasure box as it is getting low.
