This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These rigorous and relevant books will add to a robust HL Language and Literature reading list. My students are enthusiastic readers, and I want to support that by providing access to a wide breadth of texts -- both in and outside the literary canon -- to expand their horizons. Both Fever Dream and Canterbury Tales are on the IB Prescribed Reading List, and students will be assessed based on their knowledge and analysis of these works at the end of the program.
I have "looped up" with these students since their freshman year, and I know them well—well enough to know that they will greatly enjoy the plot and structure of both works.
The "No Fear" version of the Canterbury Tales will be immensely helpful for my majority-ELL (English Language Learner) class.
The IB Diploma Programme is a very challenging undertaking. If students put this much effort and time into their studies, I must make it enjoyable. These books will help me do that.
