I teach 2nd grade in a high poverty area. Our school is on Academic Emergency and the students are coming back to school 2 weeks before the rest of the district for extra remediation. The students return to class August 4th, so I want to help them enjoy the end of summer by using a travel theme to our reading and listening time.
I currently do not have a listening center or materials to go along with a listening center. I want to give my students as many opportunities to enjoy reading as well as listening as possible. We are teaching a "scripted" reading program which does not allow for much variance in the teaching style, so I want to make sure that I am able to supplement their learning with differentiated instruction in by using this center.
I would like to set up a Listening Center complete with headphones, CD player and assorted books and Cd's to help facilitate their learning.
