This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Reading is a passport to countless adventures"-Mary Poe Osborne- HELP! We need high quality book baggies to house our special books to transport from school to home.
I teach in a diverse, low-income school in Queens NY in an ICT classroom where some students have special needs.
My students are a diverse group of learners with different special needs. They use books everyday in our reading workshop to help expand their reading level and love for reading. They currently use large plastic ziplock bags to store their books and they are constantly ripping or coming apart making it difficult for them to store their books and other essential reading tools such as sight word card rings, shared reading passages, and more. With helps from wonderful donors like you I can provide my students with high quality book bags to transport their books back and fourth from school to home.
My Project
These high quality take home pouches will make a difference in my students' learning because they will be able to easily transport their favorite books from school to home to read with their families. This will also help my students grow a love for reading both at home and in school and increase their reading ability and stamina. "There are only two keys to educational success: hardwork and parental involvement"-Michael Ferris- This quote reflects the importance of parental involvement at home and the take home pouches will make it easier for families to get involved with their child's reading because the books will be sent home to them and they are the books the students' chose from school.
