Travel the World Through a New Lens

My students need an iPad Pro and virtual reality viewers to get outside the classroom and see the world through Google Maps.

My Students

We are a Title I K-5 elementary school located in the heart of North Portland. We have an unique population of students from over 20 different countries. 100 percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. We try and address as many needs as possible at our school, but often lack the funding to provide the technological resources we need.

Many of our English Language Learners come to our school with no prior education.

The challenge of learning English and building proficiency in content subjects is overwhelming for many of our students. A lack of prior schooling has many of our refugee students completing schoolwork several grade levels behind their peers.

My Project

Have you ever stood inside the middle of a volcano? Can you stand before all 7 wonders of the world in under 7 minutes? Imagine looking down into the depths of the ocean and staring into the craters on Mars.

Too many of our students never get the opportunity to travel beyond their local neighborhood, with Google Cardboard, any child can travel across the globe in seconds.

We want to bring the world to our classroom by leading virtual field trips with Google glasses and an efficient iPad with extra memory.

Google Expeditions virtual reality kits typically cost several thousands of dollars but with your help and these supplies we would be able to build a starter kit at a more affordable price point. You can help us make science and social studies come to life everyday by donating towards a future Google field trip.
