My Project
Our school is an amazing example of what our world can be when we are working to support each other while welcoming all! We have over 68 language spoken here, with a wide variety of students who are not only Native, but many of which are choosing to come join us here from another region of our globe.
This year, we are embracing mental health and bringing distraction free learning to a new heights by eliminating the use of cell phones in classrooms!
While that is a breath of fresh air, I need to ensure that my students have access to this learning and socio-emotional growth by providing ways for expression and being heard.
So much has become reliant on cell phone use, that t has turned into a crutch. We are noticing a slower rate at which students are being immersed into language because of the quick reliance on their tech. And with that reliance comes distraction to what they are learning. Our office needs to support over 800 English language learners and their families by providing a way to balance meaningful technology through a translator without the distractions of a cell phone app. My goal is to continue to support them fully by making sure I am hearing their expressions, needs, goals, hopes and dreams!
