This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our library hosts students from all backgrounds. So, this means that most of our students come from non-English speaking homes. Therefore, many of our students receive bilingual education. Instead of keeping language separate, translanguage books help multilingual children mix and mingle all of their linguistic skills and knowledge in various contexts. The books we have selected for this project integrate languages in the same way that multilingual people mix and mingle language in their every day lives. This way students can strategically build and develop language from school to home.
