Transitioning From Virtual to Physical Learning

My Students

My students are highly motivated, hard-working, and dedicated to their academics. My students learn Digital Information Technology, Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles, and Advanced Placement Computer Science A.

We are a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) school.

Our school is a Marine Academy of Science and Technology and the only public school in Florida that resides on a university campus. More than half of my students are from low-income households. Our classroom infuses STEM into the curriculum to allow students to have cross-curriculum instruction that incorporates their core subject areas while providing students with critical thinking skills.

My Project

As we transition back to in person learning, students enjoy classroom activities that allow for them to take a break from their computers and use pen and paper. In computer science we call these activities unplugged, which allows students to learn about computer science topics in a real hands on setting. One activity that we do when learning about the Internet is give each student an IP address and students walk around finding each others IP address while it changes.

This color printer will help print classroom resources to support with in person learning.

In a previous DonorsChoose project we were fortunate to be funded a button maker to make buttons to promote clubs and school spirit, the color printer will allow for us to take our designs from the computer and print them for the buttons.

With the delta variant and COVID-19, we are having students quarantined who come in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. The wireless keyboard and web cam will be used to keep learning happening when students are quarantined. students will be able to see what is on the promethium board and interact with classmates.
