Transforming Teaching with Technology!

Help me give my students two new iPads. Recently our students started working on an online program that is tailored to each student's individual needs. But, we need more forms of technology for all students access the program!!!!

My Students

Our class is made up of two teachers, two paraprofessionals, and 29 students in a fourth grade integrated co-teaching class. We have general education students as well as special education students, so we have a wide range of performance levels in our classroom.

Our neighborhood is comprised of low-income families, and many of our students live in public housing.

One hundred percent of our students receive free lunch, and quite a few of our students are currently living in homeless shelters. Our small school is located in the neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, New York, and we are a Title I school. We are aware that many of our students are performing below grade level, so we need a variety of resources to meet their needs.

My Project

Our students have recently started an online morning program in math and reading that is tailored to the individual needs of each student. To access this program each student needs to be on an iPad. This program assesses the students and places them on an individualized pathway, The students work independently with the guidance of a teacher when intervention is needed.

Our students are very eager to come to school early to have the time to access this very interactive and engaging program!

We are seeing many successes with each student, and we hope to see more succeed! But to make this happen we need more iPads to allow more students to access this program at the same time! Two more iPads would go along way helping our students!!
