My Project
The end of the school year is packed with distractions, but we can still do important learning. Our 2nd Grade team is planning to introduce environmental science issues by "moving" our class into outer space!
Transforming our room into a outerspace colony will be a motivating way to engage 2nd graders in an end-of-year climate & environment inquiry project!
Starting by reviewing or life science unit, students will make a packing list of what is necessary for life, pack it into the plastic totes, and then (stomp) rocket into the atmosphere on National Astronauts Day! Once they enter the classroom, we will have the planetarium projector to reference what astronauts see. The materials in this project will be used to create pods around the room for our Community Garden (acrylic containers with plants and grow lights), Library (science comics and basher sciencebooks), and RePurpose and ReUse Lab where we will do STEM projects with recycled materials.
