My students need math centers! We need multiplication dots and flash cards. We need addition fact fluency support material and strategy games to build stamina.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are wonderful young enthusiastic future world changers. While they may live in a community with challenges they strive to improve themselves through hard work and optimistic outlooks. The school community is sadly one of the harshest neighborhoods in Philadelphia and has been ravaged by herorine addiction. Many of my students rely on our school for both warm meals and a safe place to simply be a child. I want our classroom to go from a drab cement square to a warm welcoming safe place.
My Project
Math can be extremely scary but with math games we can change that. I want to implement a daily fun math block with fluency dots to allow addition and multiplication reinforcment also helping students to self regulate. The inclusion of flashcards can make peer math play exciting through quick times play and independent practice.
We need to make math exciting, assembly challenging, and achievable.
Let's help make math the highlight of every child's day while reinforcing basic skills. Enrichment through games is a sure fire way to include students who feel intimated by math. My students need help to reach the standards of 3rd grade and beyond. Let's do this!
