This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Supporting our school garden club through DonorsChoose is an investment in the future of our students and the environment. Our Title I school, serving approximately 500 students, is home to a vibrant garden club with 44 dedicated members. These young gardeners actively cultivate produce and plants that attract pollinators, providing hands-on learning experiences in life sciences. The garden club not only enhances students' understanding of biology and ecology but also promotes teamwork, responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. We are requesting 12 pruners, a compost screener, anti-wind clips for our garden flags, additional garden flags, garden stencils, and solar water fountains. These items are essential for maintaining and expanding our garden. The pruners will allow students to care for plants more effectively, ensuring healthy growth. The compost screener will help us create nutrient-rich soil, vital for our garden's sustainability. Anti-wind clips and additional garden flags will keep our garden vibrant and welcoming, while garden stencils will enable students to add creative, personalized touches to the space. Solar water fountains will not only beautify the garden but also teach students about renewable energy and water conservation.
