Transform Junior Artists' Self-portraits via Frida Kahlo Into Master Artists!
Help me give my students the opportunity to create self-portraits that reflect their skin tones by studying the artist, Frida Kahlo's self-portraits. They will be using their Canson Sketchbooks to explore the mixing of the Sakura oil pastels.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Let's help students of my school who love creating, get the tools to do so. Based on a survey of the kids' wants, 85% stated that they want to learn how to draw the face. In response to their request, I am teaching them about self-portrait through an artist they culturally relate to, Frida Kahlo.
I am also requesting oil pastels of skin tones to help them create their skin tones in the self-portraits that they make.
